Amy earned a BA in Psychology in 2003 from the Sonoma State University in California and a MA in Psychology from the University of West Georgia in 2006. Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia, and a National Certified Counselor with over 14 years of experience in the mental health and counseling setting.
Amy’s gentle, but firm approach to psychotherapy aims to help the client detach from their suffering, promote healing, be more present, and connect to their authentic self to reach their full potential. Amy works closely with her clients to design unique treatment plans specific to their needs and goals. Her focus is to create a healthy therapeutic relationship with her clients to promote positive change and growth in a safe environment. Amy incorporates Humanistic, Existential, Mindfulness, Adlerian, and Cognitive Behavioral approaches to therapy.
Amy has had extensive experience helping clients regulate moods, such as depression, anxiety, anger, stress, and hopelessness and helping clients cope with grief, loss, and trauma. Amy’s area of expertise includes men’s issues, self-esteem and body acceptance, communication skill development, and grief and loss. Amy works mostly with individuals from childhood through late adulthood, and often with families and couples. Amy is an ally to all marginalized populations and communities.
Amy is also the owner of Sunset Bloom Counseling, LLC, which is located here at TerraMar Wellness. Sunset Bloom Counseling's main goal is to "help you plant the seeds that cultivate change and nurture growth."
