Oxygen Therapy

TerraMar Wellness Center‘s Oxygen Therapy utilizes a low pressure hyperbaric chamber. You may have heard of a hyperbaric chamber before. Many think of hyperbarics in a hospital setting. Medical hyperbarics are more aggressive and are done under strict medical supervision. Often hospitals use on site hyperbaric therapy to help heal serious wounds.

Hyperbaric chambers of all kinds use pressure to condense oxygen and administer it to the recipient. In the hospital, chambers offer pressures of around 2.4 atm. Our chamber offers a gentle 1.3 atm. 

Rather than treating specific ailments, ours is used for general wellness. When we enhance o2 supply to the cells and tissues, we can often optimize the natural healing process.

Oxygen therapy may: 

- Assist healing by raising tissue oxygen levels to normal in areas where they are reduced through illness or injury.
- Encourage new blood vessels to grow and carry additional blood.
- Increase the ability of the body’s defense mechanisms to fight infection and kill bacteria

- Help reduce swelling.

Any condition which results in inflammation in the body can benefit from HBOT. HBOT increases oxygen and delivers more oxygen to damaged areas in the body and stimulates the healing process.
